CD4, also known as T4, is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the helper subset of T cells (thymocytes), on immature T cells in the thymus, and weakly on monocytes and dendritic cells. CD4 helps recognize antigens associated with MHC class II molecules via initiation of signal transduction and controlling of cell-cell interaction.
